I am Sebastian Polmans, born and raised in Neuwerk, Germany, close to the Dutch border.
I love painting, writing and making music. During the past two years, I have especially enjoyed creating animal portraits with colored pencils for my project The Whisper of the Animals, which combines soulmessages with paintings.

Together with my sister Steffi, I travel to different places and schools with our program Yoga with Music. While she guides the yoga practice, I accompany the sessions with singing and sounds of my guitar, flute, harp and piano. Together, we create spaces of relaxation, of connection amd inspiration for children and adults alike to feel the love and wisdom of the inner being.
I am fascinated by numbers and by Mother Nature and I love to feel the universal healing power of these changing times resonating within me and to express it through my paintings and my words, through music and life itself. And again and again I am grateful for the encounters with others whom I meet along this path…
The Whisper of the Animals
Reconciling with one’s own animal nature is an adventure that connects us with our inner being, quite often in surprising ways. The soulpower of the animals can support us in mastering this divine process – the wolf, the lamb, and even the beast.

A Picture of Hope

Then the wolf dwell with the lamb, the leopard lies down with the young goat; the calf and the lion cub grow up together and a little child will lead them.
(Isaiah 11:6)
About 2700 years ago, the prophet Isaiah spoke of a child, who brings balance to the tension between absolute opposites. It is an expression of hope and confidence, sounding almost like a fairy tale – too beautiful to be true.
When crises, conflicts and catastrophies seem to dominate the outer world, Isaiah’s prophecy may appear unlikely to succeed. And yet it may become true when we look at what is happening within us.
Turning away from the world outsige and looking inward automatically releases insights that initiate an evolutional process, one that may feel like a birth – an inner birth. Then we become the child Isaiah speaks of, each of us in its own inimitable way.
New Is Truly New
Experience teaches us that wolf and lamb, leopard and young goat, calf and lion cub are incompatible pairs. They symbolize the never-ending struggle between good and evil, between victim and offender.
If we dare to look inward, even when countless distractions try to keep us from doing so, what never seemed to fit together may gradually reveal itself as a living sign of reconciliation. The impossible becomes possible and we set free something new – truly new – for ourselves and for the world.

When we become aware of our own contradictions and reconcile with them, something new can emerge in the joyful interplay of creation. Often we experience breakthrough moments like labor pains just before a birth, expressing the wonder of new aliveness.
When we no longer exclude anything – not even the seemingly nasty or “evil” parts of us – every fragment becomes recognized as essential and valuable to the whole. Wholeness becomes truly tangible. And then the supposedly evil or nasty part no longer needs to be evil or nasty at all.
Effective Transformation
In the creation myth of Genesis the animal appears before the human, who is an image of the divine and naturally unfolds in relation to that divine likeness.
If we reject neither our animal nor our divine aspects, we live in accordance with our nature – a being that unites the lowest instincts and the highest wisdom. Facing these forces, which seem incompatible, is certainly not always easy, yet this development corresponds to our human essence. This becomes especially clear in times of crisis and conflicts, when the key to true, effective transformation is often found only through failure.
Animal, Human and Divine

How can the animals help us here? They are absolutely present, fully alive in the moment. Animals simply are. They fulfill themselves in roaring and courting, in their prey and in the traces they leave. When they eat, they eat. When they sing, they sing. They care for their young with attentiveness and love and they can be merciless in territorial battles.
Their planning rarely extends beyond a minute, yet their nests and burrows show ingenious architecture, their flight paths seem planned long in advance.
In the structure of his body and organs, the human being resembles a mammal. What distinguishes the human from the animal is that it can become conscious of his instincts and drive. And in and beyond them the human can experience its nature as a divine being. Throughout life he may feel and embody this more and more fully, beautifully.
