Pilgrim of this Earth – Anne Sofie

I am a pilgrim of this earth,
walking through land upon land upon land
under the 100,000,000 stars

I recognise their constellations,
how they dance and entangle,
and in the same breath,
I stretch my hands up towards them
and try to remember the notes of their song
that I knew to be home
long before I fell into this world

I search under the rocks heated by the sun,
in the eyes of a stranger,
through the reflection of my own contour
as I bow down in front of the mighty river,

and as a white feather
lands before my feet,
I hold a whisper of this song for seconds,
until it gently slips away again,
playfully as fireflies disappearing
into the deep bushes
after having revealed their magic
for those who stopped to see,

this is the game,
this is the dance
there is no map,
and no true destination,

only wonder
as a travelling companion,
walking side by side,

over the mountains,
alongside the sea,

recognising magic
as it sings through
that lonesome rose
dropping yet another petal
before my human feet

and trusting
there is nowhere else
to be than here.
